Mom just springs this on him at the last possible moment? You don't set him up as wanting to be a girl. He was looking forward to going to the same school as his brother. What if Mom had found him sitting on the bed still in his boys clothes? What if he'd fought? Would mom have forced him? you skip ahead three years with no explanation of why his parents thought it would be better for him. I think I'll skip this one.
